If so, this is a step in the right direction! The joints have that much more time to mature and ensure a safer race. Any thoughts?

It too easy to falsify records. The live breeding is better for the breed. As far as injuries to the mares...the stallion's need to be taught better manners and not be allowed to be overly aggressive when breeding.

If the race was a little longer I think Mine that Bird would have won. The jockey that was riding Rachel Alexender was Calven Bo' rail, who was also the same jockey that rode Mine that Bird to victory in the Kentucky Derby. It would be cool if Calven Won belmont on one of the horses!!! It would be like he won the triple crown.

I have worked in the racing industry and applaud the jockey club for banning steroids. Unfortunately breeders are not breeding and training horses like they did back when Secretariat ,Seattle Slew or even Affirmed won. Sometimes you need to go back to the basics and learn from the old timers how to do things right. I also think that the fields have become too big in the derby. Limit it to 15. I also think that the jockey who won the derby should stay with the same horse through all 3 races. Sorry Calvin you jumping ship on Mine That Bird was wrong. No offense Mike as you are a great jockey and hope to see you at the Belmont and winning.

I also think the jockey club needs to come into the 21st century on allowing AI horses to be registered. With the DNA testing abilities that are available today there is a way to tell who a colt/filly comes from. Why not let them register for breeding purposes at least. Cut down on the injuries to the mares.
