Originally from Milwaukee, WI,

BeezieMadden has been riding since the age of three and made her grand prix debut in 1985. Four years of continued success followed, which included participation on winning U.S. Nations Cup teams, which led to her being named the 1989 United States Olympic Committee’s Female Equestrian of the Year.

In 2004, she breezed through the Olympic Selection Trials, finishing in first place on Authentic with only eight faults accumulated for all six selection events. With her contribution of double-clear rounds in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, she helped the U.S. team win the Gold medal, while her success on U.S. soil earned her the American Grand Prix Association (AGA) Rider of the Year title that year.

Madden’s greatest accomplishment in 2007 involved her win at the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen in Aachen, Germany, in July. Madden again rode Authentic for this prestigious win over 40 of the world’s best. To add to this honor she was named leading rider in Aachen, one of the most coveted leading rider titles in the world. Madden was also a key member of the Samsung Super League Squad again in 2007 with Judgement.

Madden had another incredible year in 2008 with her superstar – Authentic. She won her second consecutive Team Gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games, where they won an unbelievable jump-off to pick up Individual Bronze, too. Leading up to the Games, Authentic won the $200,000 CN Worldwide Grand Prix in Wellington, FL, with another one of his standard lightning fast jump-off rounds. That was on the heels of a WEF Challenge win three days earlier. With those two impressive efforts, Authentic proved that he had maintained his unbelievable form from the previous year.

With rising star Danny Boy, Madden qualified for the 2009 Rolex FEI World Cup Final where the pair finished 12th. Danny Boy also played a vital part on the U.S. team during Tour Three of the Meydan Nations Cup. Upon returning from Europe, Danny Boy won the $82,098 CN Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows.

Madden and Danny Boy started of the 2010 season with strong rounds in Florida this winter. Madden was the first woman—and the first U.S. rider—to ever reach the Top Three in the Gandini Show Jumping World Ranking list (achieved in 2004), and she was the first woman to pass the $1million mark in earnings for show jumping. She is the second leading money winner in history at Spruce Meadows in Canada. Madden’s accomplishments are rewriting the equestrian world’s record books. She has won back-to-back honors as USEF Equestrian of the Year—the first rider ever to do so, and is only the second rider in history to win the honor twice in their career.

Beezie Madden had another incredible year in 2008 with her superstar – Authentic. With Authentic, she won her second consecutive Team Gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games, where they won an unbelievable jump-off to pick up Individual Bronze, too. Leading up to the Games, Authentic won the $200,000 CN Worldwide Grand Prix in Wellington, FL, with another one of his standard lightning fast jump-off rounds. That was on the heels of a WEF Challenge win three days earlier. With those two impressive efforts, Authentic proved that he has maintained his unbelievable form from the previous year.

In 2009 Goutal and the KWPN mare Ralvesther teamed up for impressive Grand Prix finishes. They won the $75,000 Grand Prix of Lake Placid in June, Goutal is the youngest rider to win this class in the events forty year history. In August, they won the $50,000 Sussex Grand Prix. In 2010, the pair has collected a sixth place finish in the $75,000 Adequan Grand Prix at the Winter Equestrian Festival.

Beginning in 2007 as one of the top 20 riders on the FTI Rider Challenge list during the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, Goutal then rode as part of the U.S. Developing Rider European tour and helped the U.S. to Nations Cup wins in Finland and Sweden. In 2008, she and Onira were reserve champions in the $50,000 Smart for Life Grand Prix CSI 2* at the WEF. They then went on to represent the U.S. at the 2008 World Cup Final in Sweden.

She was also chosen to represent the United States Equestrian Team at the 2006 Nations Cup competition in Buenos Aires, Brazil, where her strong performances helped the U.S. win the Team Gold medal.

Riding since the age of six, North Carolina native Jeffery Welles has nearly four decades of equestrian experience to his name, including participation in four FEI World Cup Show Jumping Finals and more than 100 World Cup qualifiers, for which the FEI awarded him a medal. Welles was also named runner-up to Margie Goldstein Engle, for the 1989 American Grand Prix Association Rider of the Year award.

However, in 2009 Welles and Armani were back with a vengeance winning an Open Jumper Class at the Hampton Classic and winning the New Albany Classic Grand Prix in September.

Armani and Welles look strong again in 2010. In February, they were second in a large international field at the $150,000 Spy Coast Farm World Cup Qualifier.

In 2006, Welles and Armani were on the short list for the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. They were members of the second-place Nations Cup Team in La-Baule, France and won the $60,000 Budweiser grand Prix at Lake Placid. An Illinois native and University of Syracuse graduate with a degree in sociology, Stephens began riding at a young age. When she was just 10-years-old, she showed at Madison Square Garden’s National Horse Show. She made history in 1982 when she rode "Spindletop Rocky Raccoon" to an outdoor high-jump record, tying with Dennis Murphy at 7’8" in Cincinnati. Stephens has a keen eye for selecting talented young horses and an astute ability for developing a horse’s innate talents. Her Centennial Farm is among the nation’s most successful show barns.

In April, 1991, Stephens placed seventh on Volan in the Show Jumping World Cup Finals, tying her with Anne Kursinski as the highest placed American riders. When Volan was unable to compete in the selection process for the 1991 Pan American Games, Stephens competed on Poor Richard and qualified on that mount, who was just entering grand prix competition. Stephens and Poor Richard helped the United States win the team Bronze Medal at the Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. She went on to win a second Pan American Games team Bronze Medal in 1995 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Stephens also coached the Gold Medal show jumping team at the 1995 North American Young Riders’ Championship.

In April, 1993, Stephens won the $100,000 Budweiser American Invitational in Tampa Stadium, regarded by many as the nation’s premier show jumping competition. In February of 2002 Stephens and Chappie were second in the $50,000 Bayer Wellington Cup. They also won the $50,000 Canada One at Spruce Meadows in June. The pair were also second in the $150,000 Hampton Classic in August.

With Cosequin’s CEO, Stephens won the Columbia Classic Grand Prix in September of 2002. The pair was also second in the Horse Festival in Holland in September as well.

More recently Stephens has found stars in Cleu and Chapeau Z. Chapeau Z was sixth in the $50,000 Braman Motorcars Grand Prix at WEF 3 in 2009. In August, they were also third in the $50,000 Rood and Riddle Kentucky Grand Prix.

To prepare for the 2010 season, Stephens has been jumping both Cleu and Chapeau Z at the Winter Equestrian Festival.

Debbie Stephens

Born: June 17, 1950

Hometown: Palmetto, FL

An Illinois native and University of Syracuse graduate with a degree in sociology, Stephens began riding at a young age. When she was just 10 years old, she showed at Madison Square Garden’s National Horse Show. She made history in 1982 when she rode "Spindletop Rocky Raccoon" to an outdoor high-jump record, tying with Dennis Murphy at 7’8" in Cincinnati. Stephens has a keen eye for selecting talented young horses and an astute ability for developing a horse’s innate talents. Her Centennial Farm is among the nation’s most successful show barns.

In April, 1991, Stephens placed seventh on Volan in the Show Jumping World Cup Finals, tying her with Anne Kursinski as the highest placed American riders. When Volan was unable to compete in the selection process for the 1991 Pan American Games, Stephens competed on Poor Richard and qualified on that mount, who was just entering Grand Prix grand prix competition. Stephens and Poor Richard helped the United States win the team Bronze Medal at the Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. She went on to win a second Pan American Games team Bronze Medal in 1995 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Stephens also coached the Gold Medal show jumping team at the 1995 North American Young Riders’ Championship.

With Cosequin’s CEO, Stephens won the Columbia Classic Grand Prix in September of 2002. The pair was also second in the Horse Festival in Holland in September as well.

To prepare for the 2010 season, Stephens has been jumping both Cleu and Chapeau Z at the Winter Equestrian Festival.

In 2009, they also won the Devon Grand Prix for the second time. They prepared diligently for the 2009 Rolex FEI World Cup Final all winter and were rewarded with a second place finish for their efforts.

In March 2009 alone, the mighty Sapphire won three major classes at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival.McLain Ward also won two more major classes in March, he won the $25,000 Fidelity Investments classic on Goldika and on March 8, he won the $25,000 Fidelity Investments Grand Prix on Phillipa by more than five seconds. This gave him five Grand Prix grand prix wins in 21 Days, a number that is unprecedented worldwide.

In 2010,McLain Ward has picked up right where he left off in 2009. Ward had a second place finish with Goldika in the $30,000 Green Cove Springs Welcome class on Januray 15. The following dayMcLain Ward again finished in second, this time with Phillipa in the $100,000 Green Cove Springs Grand Prix, which served as a World Cup qualifier. With chesnut geldng Rothchild, Ward was fourth at the WEF 2 Purina Mills Grand Prix. In February,McLain Ward and Goldika jumped to the win in the $30,000 HITS Grand Prix at Thermal.

The road to the 2008 Olympic Games andMcLain Ward and Sapphire’s second consecutive Gold medal quickly gained momentum including being a valuable part of the winning U.S. Team at the $75,000 FEI Nations Cup presented by CN at the Winter Equestrian Festival in March. In April they won the $200,000 Budweiser Invitational in Tampa in a deluge of rain and wind.

Being first, both historically and in the ring, is nothing new to McLainWard. He has an international grand prix prowess that only continues to increase with age. In 1990, and at 14 years of age 14, Ward became the youngest rider ever to win both the USET Medal Finals and the USET Talent Derby. He would go on to turn that into a legacy, winning the pair of competitions from 1990- 19921990-1992. After graduating to the grand prix circuit, he wasted no time in making a name for himself, and fulfilled his first Olympic dream in August 2004.

Ward and Sapphire were members of the Silver medal-winning team at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, and the 2006 Samsung Super League. During league competition, he was a member of the U.S. team that took second place at LaBaule, France, and Aachen, Germany. Ward also had three individual wins in LaBaule, winning the Best Rider Award.

Ward was also a key part of the Gold medal-winning 2005 Samsung Super League team despite a fall on course at Hickstead, England, resulting in a broken collar bone. Ward courageously rode in Aachen not long after, and his double clears aboard Sapphire propelled the U.S. to the Nations Cup victory there.

Ward has competed in 10 FEI World Cup Show Jumping Finals and numerous Nations Cup competitions. In 2007, he won the CN Worldwide Florida Open Grand Prix in Florida and the first leg of the World Cup Final in Las Vegas, both with Sapphire.

Sapphire won the $1m CN International Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows Masters on September 13, 2009. In the summer of 2009 McLain and Sapphire also swept their classes at Devon and the Hampton Classic. In addition to being a vital part of the American Meydan Nation's Cup team on Tour Two.
